Another perfect June evening beckoned us to the ever-delightful Crawley ground for our annual 20/20 match.
Batting first, we immediately ramped up an impressive strike rate with Dave F (27*) and the flamboyant Rishi (27*) peppering the boundaries as they both retired in quick time. With the Skipper (23), Cris (18) – including his first ever & beautifully struck six – and the timelessly classy Paddy (20) all batting with purpose and positive intent, a good total looked on the cards. Thus it proved, with a final flourish with the bat from the ever-lively Nick F (13) and a score of 150 was posted.
In reply, our hosts were always in trouble as their wickets tumbled and fluent scoring against our measured attack dried up. The President and Prav both took 2 wickets whilst Stoppers, Cris, Nick F and the Skipper all took one apiece as we restricted Crawley to only 63 for 8 (in their 20 overs) in reply. A confident and well-crafted victory; the hotdogs and chips kindly served by Crawley afterwards, washed down with a cold drink, completed a lovely evening.
